ᚱ ABOUT RUNESTONE LUMBER CO.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF LUMBER COMPANY.

Shaped by two distinct worlds: the ancient boreal forests of Scandinavia and the rugged, wide-open landscapes of Texas.

ROOTED IN TWO WORLDS

Runestone Lumber Co. is a Texas-based forestry and tree services company with roots in Stockholm, Sweden.

Our identity is shaped by two environments: the forests of Scandinavia and the wide-open landscapes of Texas. The result is a company built around craftsmanship, reliability, safety, and respect for the natural world.

Where ordinary tree services treat felling as simple demolition, we treat forestry as a heritage craft. We consider canopy health, soil structure, wind patterns, and the long-term vitality of your property. Our crews bring industrial-grade modern forestry equipment paired with the patience, calculated precision, and discipline of old-world arborists.

ᚠ

Our Heritage

Runestone began in Stockholm, Sweden, where sustainable forestry is not a trend, but a cultural pillar refined over centuries. We brought this respect for tree genetics, structural pruning, and low-impact harvesting across the Atlantic, adapting it to Texas oaks, pines, cedars, and pecan trees.

ᚱ

Our Mission

"To provide exceptional forestry and tree services while treating every property, customer, and landscape with respect."

Every saw cut, rigging line, and cleared lot reflects our obligation to safety, transparent communication, and leaving land healthier and safer than we found it.

ᛏ

Our Core Values

  • Safety: Industry-leading rigging methods, PPE, and rigorous site risk analysis.
  • Craftsmanship: Precision cuts, clean felling angles, and pristine job-site cleanup.
  • Integrity: Honest assessments, fair quotes, and no unnecessary tree removals.
  • Responsibility: Minimizing ground disturbance and salvaging valuable timber.
  • Reliability: Showing up when promised, prepared for the toughest Texas conditions.
α›‹

Our Future

As Texas continues to grow, Runestone Lumber Co. is committed to expanding our fleet and land management capabilities without ever compromising our craftsmanship. We envision a future of responsible Texas forestry where land development and ecological stewardship work hand-in-hand.

Precision hazardous tree removal in Texas Arboriculture
01 / SERVICE

Tree Removal

Safe and professional removal of hazardous, unwanted, dead, or storm-damaged trees of any height or diameter.

What This Service Includes:

  • Comprehensive structural risk & drop-zone analysis
  • Controlled rope rigging & surgical sectional lowering
  • Tight-quarter dismantling near residences, roofs & fences
  • Thorough job-site sweep, debris chipping & stump grinding options

Why Professional Service Matters:

Large Texas hardwoods weigh thousands of pounds and have erratic load balances. Amateur removal risks severe property damage or lethal injury. Our crews utilize certified climbing gear, industrial cranes, and Scandinavian precision felling techniques.

Precision chainsaw tree trimming and pruning Tree Health

Tree Trimming & Pruning

Precision pruning designed to improve tree longevity, enhance structural safety, mitigate wind resistance, and elevate aesthetic form.

What This Service Includes:

  • Canopy thinning & deadwood elimination
  • Crown raising for structural and roof clearance
  • Canopy weight reduction to prevent storm limb-breakage
  • Targeted sanitation pruning to prevent oak wilt transmission

Why Professional Service Matters:

Improper "topping" or flush cuts permanently mutilate trees, creating disease access points. We follow ANSI A300 standards and Scandinavian canopy balancing, preserving the natural silhouette and vitality of your valuable shade trees.

Land Clearing

Full-scale professional clearing for residential home sites, commercial developments, agricultural acreage, roads, and ranch expansion.

What This Service Includes:

  • Mass timber removal and selective specimen preservation
  • Complete stump extraction and root grubbing
  • Site grading, debris haul-off or on-site processing
  • Erosion buffer preservation and drainage consideration

Why Professional Service Matters:

Reckless clearing destroys topsoil and accidentally damages root zones of prized legacy trees. We plan each clearing corridor strategically, protecting mature oak stands while maximizing usable acreage.

Emergency storm damage tree recovery crew Rapid Response

Storm & Emergency Services

Rapid response to fallen, split, or structurally compromised trees following Texas windstorms, flash freezes, tornadoes, and lightning strikes.

What This Service Includes:

  • Priority hazard stabilization for damaged roofs and power corridors
  • Removal of trees trapped under complex tension and compression loads
  • Emergency driveway and ranch access clearing
  • Comprehensive documentation and photo logs for insurance claims

Why Professional Service Matters:

Storm-damaged trees are under extreme internal tension. An uninformed chainsaw cut can violently spring back. Our crews are trained in complex tension release, crane extraction, and high-stakes emergency stabilization.

Professional timber and woodland solutions with a focus on responsible land management, stand thinning, and timber salvage.

What This Service Includes:

  • Forest stand thinning and density management
  • Hardwood and pine timber felling, bucking, and grading
  • Timber salvage and sawlog prep for local milling
  • Long-term forest management plans for Texas properties

Why Professional Service Matters:

Healthy forests require deliberate stewardship. By thinning overcrowded or diseased timber stands, we redirect vital groundwater and nutrients to the healthiest canopy trees, dramatically reducing wildfire fuel loads.

Forestry mulcher clearing cedar brush Eco-Mulching
06 / SERVICE

Brush & Lot Clearing

Efficient removal of dense Ashe juniper (Texas cedar), invasive mesquite, overgrown briars, and underbrush.

What This Service Includes:

  • Forestry mulching that converts thick brush into protective organic mulch
  • Underbrush clearing without tearing up sensitive topsoil
  • Wildfire defensible space creation around homes and structures
  • Ranch fence-line, survey line, and trail clearing

Why Professional Service Matters:

Traditional bulldozing creates massive burn piles and strips valuable topsoil, leaving the land prone to rapid erosion. Forestry mulching preserves soil integrity, eliminates burn permits, and enriches pasture ground.

ᚱ THE RUNESTONE ODYSSEY

FROM STOCKHOLM TO TEXAS

Generations of Scandinavian respect for the forest, united with the bold spirit and rugged terrain of Texas.

OUR ORIGINS

A Bridge Across Two Continents

"Runestone Lumber Co. began with a simple idea: bring the discipline and craftsmanship of Scandinavian forestry together with the bold spirit of Texas.

What started in Stockholm grew into a company built around hard work, respect for nature, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Today, Runestone Lumber Co. carries that heritage forward in Texas β€” combining old-world craftsmanship with modern equipment, techniques, and safety standards."

The Scandinavian Forestry Philosophy

In Sweden, the forest is not seen as something to conquer. Sweden's centuries-old forest codes established the world’s most disciplined forestry methods: deliberate stand management, careful thinning, and profound reverence for the timber that shelters families.

When our founders brought these principles across the ocean to Texas, they discovered a landscape of immense beauty and distinct challenges. From colossal live oaks sprawling over Hill Country ranches to the rugged piney woods and unpredictable weather extremes, Texas demanded both mental discipline and heavy physical resilience.

Why the Runestone?

Across Scandinavia, ancient granite runestones have endured for over a millennium. Carved with runes by master craftsmen, they stood as public monuments to honor brave journeys, family heritage, and solemn promises.

For us, the runestone represents our core philosophy: a mark of permanence, unyielding strength, and honest workmanship that withstands time and weather.
